What problems needed solving?

Nick joined McAfee to create an industry leading and strategic procurement function that creates more value of the organization through deep business partnering and insights and data based decision making. Nick’s mandate was clear: bring structure to the function, get more out of new and existing tools, create a better experience for McAfee’s internal customers, and ensure procurement could support the company’s goals by driving cost savings and improving supplier management.

One of the challenges faced was the disconnected tools, and manual processes were holding McAfee back from maximising the value of Procurement and ensuring a great customer experience. Contracts and renewals were still managed using spreadsheets, and this reliance on manual processes that were labour intensive slowed down cycle times. Without a centralised system for tracking requests, there were duplicative tools and inefficiencies, resulting in higher costs. One of the main objectives Nick had was to streamline and centralise these processes — particularly where there were clear efficiencies to be gained, reducing reliance on manual work.
